Mr Mfazo Hove

Mr Mfazo Hove MBChB MD FRCOphth CertLRS is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Founder of Blue Fin Vision®, a leading consultant-led eye surgery brand with locations across London and the South East. Having performed more than 50,000 cataract, refractive and intra-ocular procedures – including over 24,000 in the last four years alone – he is recognised as one of the UK’s most experienced high-volume surgeons. His outcomes are among the strongest nationally, with one of the lowest complication rates in the UK, consistently outperforming published benchmarks.

Training, Qualifications & Fellowship Background

Mr Hove graduated with a First-Class medical degree from the University of Liverpool in 2002. He began his ophthalmology training in Eastbourne and St Thomas’ Hospital, London, where he obtained his MRCOphth. He later spent 2.5 years at Moorfields Eye Hospital as a Cataract Research Fellow, earning an MD for his work on multifocal intraocular lenses and surgical outcomes.

He completed the prestigious North Thames Ophthalmology Training Programme, achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth), gained the Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery (CertLRS), and was awarded his CCT, joining the GMC Specialist Register. His fellowship period at Moorfields encompassed Medical Retina, Cataract and Anterior Segment Surgery, providing extensive high-volume surgical exposure under leading international mentors.

Current Roles, Training & Governance Leadership

Mr Hove previously held a Consultant post at the Western Eye Hospital (Imperial College Healthcare), where he also served as Lead for Eye Casualty.

He is now the Lead Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Blue Fin Vision®, overseeing the brand’s consultant-led ethos, clinical standards and multi-site consistency.

He is an Educational Supervisor at SpaMedica, spending three days each week training the next generation of ophthalmologists within high-volume surgical environments. Many of his trainees progress into independent consultant or specialty roles across the UK.

Mr Hove also contributes extensively to governance, serving on Medical Advisory Committees (MACs) at two private hospitals, and acting as MAC representative for Freedom Vision at SpaMedica, supporting service quality, clinical governance, training oversight and strategic development across multiple organisations.
